Some places ask you to arrive as your best self. SURYA asks you to arrive as your whole self.

Here in Baardskeerdersbos, with the fynbos hills folding down into the valley and the horses moving slowly across the land, we hold space for gatherings that come home to what matters. Time in nature. Time with each other. Time to soften, to create, to remember who you are underneath the rush.

Nina and a small circle of collaborators host experiences here, and the space itself is open to facilitators and guests whose work carries the same care. Whether you come to join a gathering, to lead your own, or to rent this quiet corner of the Overberg for something you are dreaming up, you are welcome.

The Retreat Space

Roland built this space by hand, the way he has built everything on SURYA. Rough stone, warm wood, and a long wall of windows that opens the room to the valley and the sky.

Inside, there is room to gather. To sit in a circle, around tables, or on soft couches. The room holds sound gently, so a workshop, a small conference, or a retreat day all find an easy home here.

It opens onto a wide verandah, where the view stretches over the hills and the horses often wander past. A pathway leads to the braai and an outdoor sitting area, and beyond that the dam waits for anyone who feels like a swim on a warm day.

It is off-grid by choice. Stable solar and reliable water, quiet nights, and more stars than you will know what to do with.

Retreats at SURYA

A retreat here is not something we hand you off a shelf. It is shaped around you.

Come on your own, with a friend, or as a small group, and we will craft the days together. Horse-facilitated connection with Nina. Time close to the fynbos and under the stars. Space to create, to rest, to breathe. You can stay in one of the Mini Houses or in accommodation that suits you, and let the rhythm of the land set the pace.

If you carry work that resonates with this land, you are warmly invited to share it here. Nina happily opens the space to facilitators whose energy fits the place, for workshops, retreats, and gatherings held with care.
